Brief Description:  Finishing the cowling work

First job here was to sand off the epoxy surrounding the rivet holes I had filled. Quite hard work as I had put on plenty of epoxy to ensure that all of the holes had really been filled, and then some.

I also sanded down the second coat of epoxy on the spinner. This is still not perfect, but I am hoping the painter will fill what's left of the pinholes before he shoots the paint.

The remaining job on the cooling duct was to apply car door seal to the fibreglass interface. This closes the 1/4 inch gap between the duct and the frame surrounding the radiator. I used silicone to stick the seal strip, but I'm not certain how effective this will be. Hopefully, I won't need to take the lower cowling off too often. Apart from anything else, it is taking paint off the noseleg with every cycle. * Wishful thinking, the cowl has to come off lots of times! *

Last job was the wallpapering, or dress-making perhaps. The requirement was to add some heat shield material to the points on the lower cowling closest to the exhaust header pipes. I made templates with christmas wrapping paper, then used these to cut out the heat shield material. I stuck this on with epoxy, again I have my doubts as to how robust this will be.

I was worried about how close the No 2 exhaust is to the cowl, so omitted doing this area until Tim has had a look.
