Brief Description:  Fibreglassing in the cooling duct

No photies today.

I spent some more time sanding fibreglass components in preparation for the imminent trip to the painters.

I then took the cowlings off again, tightened up the exhaust, and added two stripes of gasket maker paste inside the exhaust springs, and on the ends. Having discussed this with Tim, I agreed to add safety wire to each spring to retain the bits if/when the springs break.

The rest of the time was spent up to my elbows in epoxy and matting. But before I started I took some time out to prime and paint the duct a glossy black to match the exterior. In fact only the "mouth" is visible, but I though this would stick out a mile if it wasn't painted. Quick and dirty with Halfords aerosols. I hope this is robust enough, because this bit of paint gets the full blast from the airflow. I started with paint adhesion stuff under the primer to help it along.

The cooling duct and the interface to the water radiator are glassed in to the lower cowling. Maybe a 3-hour job to prep everything, do the work, then reinstall the cowling and button everything up, screws and all, to ensure that the epoxy sets with the cowling in exactly the right position.
