Next stage in the saga of the fuel tank is to locate the spot on the tank top where a hole needs to be made for the fuel filler.
Picture 1 is the tank temporarily installed. Just three bolts, if you don't have to worry about fuel connections.
Picture 2 shows the filler pipe. This was match drilled from the right Turtle Deck Skin, which I clecoed in place just for this job. The top flange on the filler pipe needs to be bent to match the curve of the skin. I took ages doing this. One half went flush in no time, but nothing I did seemed to get the other half to lie flush with the skin. A coffee later, and I finally stopped when I got a reasonable compromise. All this is to find the correct position on the tank top (also clecoed on) to make a hole to allow fuel to be pumped into the tank.
