Brief Description:  Prep and prime fuel tank parts

I have jumped ahead again, while awaiting replacement flaperon tube.

I collected together all of the major fuel tank parts, and did what prep work was required. Some countersinking, some dimpling, and a little drilling. I'd almost forgotten how to do these.

The plans insist that nothing inside the tank should be painted, so some parts (e.g. the baffles) will remain totally unpainted, while the tank panels will only be painted on the outside. After the prep work I got everything cleaned and the relevant parts primed. See Picture 1.

It's hardly ideal painting weather. The temperature is hovering around zero, the space heater is playing up, and it any case needs to remain off during painting.

I thought I had cracked the difficulties I continue to have with the spray gun. I found the hole in the lid was blocked causing the paint flow to decrease. However, now I have lost the spray arc and just get a circular blob, which lays down too much paint. I'll never be a painter...

Picture 2 shows the float arm bent to shape in the vice. The float chamber comes attached to the wire, but the subsequent shape is as per the template in the plans (Section 37-04 Step 3).
