Brief Description:  Started on the wiring

After a long Xmas break I finally got a little time in the workshop. Following the longest period of low temps in many years, I'm going to have to get used to working in the cold, as the weather is set to continue.

Today I actually started to feed cables through the structure. The first two were the radio and transponder antenna cables. These were easy enough. I have not installed them in the F-1202K Instrument Stack Supports as these need to be replaced by different designs suitable for the Mode S Transponder. I'm waiting for Vans to ship me these.

Moving on to pages 31-04 and 05 I started on the Tunnel Harness. Once you unravel this, you end up with a mass of wires on the floor. I set to with tie wraps to organise the stuff. I eventually figured out that I had been a bit too enthusiastic doing this from the outset, as I ended up snipping many of these off again later. Each time risks a nick in a wire. I had a good supply of my own 4-inch ties, and it looks like I'm going to need them. *Over the life of the project you need "lots" of cable-ties, lots more than provided by Vans. Buy a selection.*

The plans for this wire bundle are generally good but, at this stage, they omit to mention 3 wires that will eventually be used to wire a 9-pin d-sub plug so that the Dynon can be hooked up to a laptop. Having laid the cable, I packed up before crimping on any of the terminations.
