Brief Description:  Preparing the Wing Pins

Still surrounded in lots of snow, so the heater in the garage is on for much of the time. I have ordered a carbon monoxide detector for the garage/workshop that will eventually migrate to the plane. £30 for a compact unit from Fire Angel with a seven-year battery. *Proved worthwhile, as I got a couple of alarms in the garage, but not so-far in the plane!*

Still one or two outstanding items on the fuselage - mainly actions regarding the central instrument panel, and sealing all of the rivet heads on the firewall with sealant - so that carbon monoxide doesn't get into the cabin.

Meanwhile I have started on the Finish Kit. The first chapter is preparation of the wing spar pins followed by a trial fit of the wings. After fishing out the various parts, I discovered I need a 10-24 tap for a couple of holes. This was a late addition to the required tools list, so I missed it. "The Tap & Die Company" are on holiday until 17th January, Gloster Air Parts could not oblige this time, so I had to place an order with Avery in the US.

I progressed as far as I could, but again got stuck on Step 3 as Vans had delivered the wrong diameter plastic tube. I overcame this by chopping a short length off the static air line, which seems to be the same diameter. Next challenge was selecting the correct bushings from a bag of various sized bushings. I may have used the wrong parts, but probably won't discover this until later. In short, this work is now on hold...
