Picures 1-3 show work on the oil access door in the cowl. This took much longer than I expected. There's quite a lot of fiddely work, and there was interference between the top (rear) of the door and the surround. I filed stuff away bit by bit until I just got the door to open easily. Unfortunately by this time, I had filed away enough to leave very thin gap where water can get into the engine.
Tim looked at this some time later and noticed there was a slight lip between the door and the surround. Maybe the door got bent slightly. If I was to do it again I would try to mount the door as far back in the recess as possible, to eliminate the problem I encountered. I'll just need to build a second plane to get it all right.
Picture 1 shows where I also had to move a little of the surround, in the bottom left corner of the picture. Picture 2 shows the camlocks and the hinge mechanism. Picture 3 shows the hinge a little closer. I still need to split-pin the castle nuts.
