I started today by removing the peel ply. With a good tug this came off cleanly, leaving a smooth surface. Picture 1.
Next job was to lay 10 strips of fibreglass to join the left and right sides. The strips vary in width from 2.75 inches to just 0.25 inches, which seemed crazy to me. The intent is to fill the angle between the fuselage top and the canopy to give a curved faired surface.
The wide strips went on OK, but I had fun with the very narrow ones, that fell to bits. The end result was a bit messy but, again, I covered the area in peel ply to hide my sins. Picture 2.
