Brief Description:  More fibreglass work

Time to make some decisions about colours. I decided that I would make the fairing black anyway, because this will be seen from inside the canopy when it is open. I though "naked" fibreglass would look unfinished. So my epoxy mixes get a black pigment.

I had been dreading the fibreglass work, but I enjoyed making a sticky mess today. I had seen other folks' photos with epoxy running everywhere, with comments about this being much too much epoxy. The plans call for placing the fisrt layer "wet" then adding the others dry and wetting in situ. I thought this was a recipe for making a glorious mess, so I wetted each piece before laying it. I had bought squeegees for the purpose but found the wooden "stick out your tongue and say ahh" spatulas were fine for mixing the epoxy but also great for spreading it over the material..

Pictures 1 and 2 show left and right sides with five layers applied. I put a final, optional, layer of peel ply over the top to create a smoother finish. I wasn't sure whether this should be wetted or not, so I did wet it, and had no problem removing the top layer the next day.
