Brief Description: Canopy handle, and other stuff
|
|
I started the day with some leisurely filling of rivets on the starboard side of the fuselage. Soon got fed up of that!
Next job was to paint the canopy frame. I moved the spray booth (that is too small) to the front of the garage, so that I could overspray the bushes for a change. The undercoat took ages to dry, all day in fact.
I did, however, come to terms with removing and painting the undercarriage brackets that I missed earlier. So while the paint was drying I jacked up the plane, and unbolted the inner brackets, freeing up the parts that needed paint.
With the canopy off, I also had another go at trimming it to size.
Finally, I did some work on the canopy handle. This requires some work on the external handle, including tapping a hole with a tap that I don't have. Another delay while I purchase yet another small tool, and no doubt pay £8 postage for the privilege. This will have to wait a while. Picture 1 shows work in progress on the handle. I found a way to secure it, so that I could drill a hole in the end.
