Brief Description: Preparing and assembling step brackets
I made an early start today, as I am expecting a visit from Roger, and it is possible Tim may also show up for the next inspection. First up was to prime the parts I worked on yesterday.
Picture 1 shows the beefy brackets that the step is attached to. They are bolted with 1/4 inch bolts through the holes at the end of the brackets and into nutplates on secondary brackets.
Picture 2 shows one of the Step Floor panels. Judging by the tartan primer pattern I despair of ever being able to spray paint well enough :-( I had just completed the spraying when Roger arrived, so I took a break to show him around and had lunch at Portmoak. I can see how builders become hermits in their workshops, so it was a welcome diversion to talk to another (interested) individual.
Picture 3, after lunch, shows the brackets and the step bulkhead riveted in place. I did a second trial fit of the steps and was disappointed that one did not fit without a bit of "manipulation". I think I mixed up the parts after match-drilling them. Hopefully, they are now OK.
