Brief Description: Bulkhead 45 elbow fuel line fitting
This step is way out of sequence in response to a strong recommendation on the web site. It's very easy to install this item (see picture at bottom centre of the page) before the bottom skin goes on. After that it is a two-person job.
Pictures 1 and 2 show the fuel line fitting attached to the aft centre-section bulkhead. The hole is already there, you just need to file a flat on the washer, as it sits close to the flange.
Note: When the aircraft was complete I found to my peril that fuel leaked through this joint, as I had not nipped it up enough. I had to get a spanner fabricated to do the job after the event. It caused me lots of grief mopping up fuel and getting rid of the smell, let alone the difficulty of tightening up the joint. Make sure it is tight! A stitch in time...
