Brief Description:  P 17-06 Step 3

You are looking here (picture 1) at the entire rear end of the wing tip. The part in question is the little blue triangle at bottom centre. There's a significant warning in the plans about ensuring that the trailing edge of the tip is parallel with the trailing edge of the rest of the wing. It's hard to see how it can be otherwise.

There are 6 pilot holes that need to be matched drilled into the trailing edge of the part, and opened out to #30. The trailing edge is bent in a U-shape and the holes must just go through top surface. I was careful, but in each case you can see an indent where the drill hit the bottom surface. For the next wing, I'm going to put in a piece of scrap wood (or something) before drilling to ensure I don't accidentally puncture the lower surface.

Once again, you can just see in the picture a hole at the right-angle on the trailing edge, where things don't fit too well. I don't think this is down to me, but it is rather unsightly.

The first wing is all done. I used the best part of a tube of yellow stuff, and a 1-inch scotchbrite wheel. I've also made a noticeable depression in the mountain of 12,000 rivets - the watermark on the rivet box is my gauge to progress ;-)
