Brief Description:  Preparing parts for stabilitor spar

Steps 1-4 are all about countersinking the front and rear tailplane spar and the top and bottom spar caps. The four pieces are held apart by spar ribs and the whole assembly makes a box spar. I'm not too proud of the results. Some holes are for countersunk pop-rivets, which used a different-angled countersink. I'm not very good at drilling flanges. The structure bends. I also found that if you countersink far enough to fully recess the rivet, the hole starts to enlarge. I guess it is just technique and practice. Fellow VAFers have had similar problems.

The pictures here are for three sets of parts that start life joined together like Airfix parts. Preparation includes separation with a hacksaw, cleaning up on the grinding wheel, and enlarging holes, then deburring these. I have overlaid the parts on the plan to show before and after.
