Brief Description:  Trimming the tailplane

Nasty job, trimming the skins of the tailplane, after the trial fit. The bits where the skins pass over the spar are particularly hard to get at. All made worse when my Dremel (actually a Sealey rotary tool) gave up the ghost. Although I have owned it for two years, the usage has been minimal, so I am a bit peeved. I made the best of a bad job with a manual file. I really need to have another fitting session to make sure I have removed enough material. Where are you Rupert?

Everyone seems to need to trim these skins. I don't know if Vans have plans to tweak the parts. If not, I'd say it would be worth removing at least 1/16 in from the curved sections around the tailcone, before the tailplane is assembled.

I spent a stress-free couple of hours doing some more rivet head filling in the tailplane and the rear fuselage skins.
