Brief Description:  Left Landing Light

This entry puts me over 1400 hours, with somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 to go. I finished installing the left landing light today, basically repeating what I learned yesterday, and making a few modifications for ease of installation. Now that I'm done with the landing lights, I'm good at putting those in. Things I did different on this light: First, I drilled a hole in the large rectangular mount with a snap bushing for the wires. I used less tape around the edges of the light to pull it tight, so I wouldn't have the residue problem from yesterday, and finally, I put the weather strip around the inside edge of the hole. I'll have to do that on the right landing light sometime, probably when I attach the wires at the airport. I also spotted one rivet inside the wing that needed to be put in, so I did. Then I accomplished a well needed shop clean up. Later, I went back and started on the tail light installation. I drilled the main hole, and two mounting holes. Then I put some pop rivets in, and secured them with 5 minute epoxy. Tomorrow, I'll drill them out, tap them for screws and attach the light. That's the play, anyway, I'll let you know how it turns out. Finally, I removed the oil filler tube, so I could access one final screw on the baffles. Put the screw in, and then re-attached and safety wired the filler tube.
