Brief Description:  Landing Lights

Started installing the landing lights today. First, I cut the light bracket to fit the rib, and then deburred all the parts. Then I cut the hole in the leading edge of the wing, using the template supplied by Duckworks. I cleaned up the hole, and then started figuring out how I was going to mount the AeroLed LED landing light. I decided to drill the bracket to fit, and then drilled the small end to the inside rib, then I pop riveted it in, and then the larger section of bracket to it. Finally drilling and riveting the larger end to the outboard rib. Then I drilled holes for the aeroled bracket, and started installing nutplates for it to attach to. The light will be adjusted with the aeroled bracket, so I had to make sure I could access the sides of the bracket to tighten down the hex nuts. I think I may have to cut down a hex wrench a bit, but it shouldn't be too tough. This is definitely taking longer than I thought to install these lights, but some modification was necessary to install the AeroLeds vs. the standard lights, but this will work and look pretty nice. Went back a little later and trimmed the pexi glass to fit, and deburred the edges and then using the "tape" method where you make a handle out of tape, and pull the pexiglass against the leading edge to drill. Believe it or not, it worked great. I drilled all the holes and cleco'd the pexi cover onto the leading edge.
