Brief Description:  Engine Wiring

First, I cleaned out some of the epoxy that had gotten into the hinges on the cowl pieces, then I epoxied on the "elephant ears" on the top of the cowl, which help smooth out air flow under the cowl. While that was drying, I drilled and installed the wiring pass throughs, one for engine sensors, etc, and one for power wires, etc. I installed them near the top outboard engine mounts, to allow for cleaner wiring runs down the engine mount. After that, I got the engine wiring harnesses and pass them through the sensor pass through, and pulled out the wires that don't go through the firewall, such as the trim position wires. Then I installed the Cyllinder Head Temperature (CHT) probes, using some anti seize lube. Finally, I located, drilled and installed the Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) probes on the four exhaust tubes, about 2.75 inches from the flange. The ideal was 3-4 inches, but on one of the exhaust tubes, that wouldn't work, so to keep them uniform, I decided on 2.75 to be a good compromise. They are all supposed to be the same distance, to keep the readings as accurate and useful as possible. A great day in the shop and a good way to pretty much finish up April, one of my most productive months yet at almost 54 hours. I'm flying a trip overseas in a couple of days, so hopefully May will be as productive.
