Brief Description:  Battery Mount

Spent a little time thinking about my battery mount. I wasn't happy that the sides of the mount was going to have to be pop riveted to the stringer on the floor, so I decided to make back side stiffeners and rivet platenuts to that so I can mount the bracket to the stringers with AN-3 Bolts. Seems a little more secure. So I had a scrap tie down bracket and cut the flanges off of that to make the bracket, after first trying to cut a 1 inch piece of aluminum bar exactly in half. Didn't work, so the tie down bracket flanges were about 3/4 of an inch and I just used my grinder to get them down to size so that they would fit behind the stringers. I was only able to get one side drilled and then match drilled to the #19 size for the AN bolts. Then I'll have to fit the platenuts to the back of the doubler. That way, I'll be able to assemble the entire bracket outside of the plane, and then bolt it in when it's done. Much better. That was the original plan, by the way, but once I saw how little room there was behind the stringer, I convinced myself that pop riveting the bracket to the stringer would be good enough. Those batteries are pretty heavy though, and I don't want the bracket to come loose.
