Brief Description:  Gear mounts

Riveted on the platenuts on the back brace for the flap motor. Also on the top of the brace on the 705 bulkhead. Then I got the gear legs, and attempted to fit them into the gear mounts to match drill the .311 hole. I got the right leg it easy, but the left was very tough, I had to pound on it to get it in. All the while thinking, how am I going to get this out after I drill? Oh well, worry about that later. Anyway, got the holes drilled, and had a very hard time getting the left leg out. Finally called Van's for ideas. none. So, I did what any red blooded american man would do, I hit it with a hammer. Nothing. So, I heated up the gear mount, hoping the heat would cause the metal to expand, does that make the hole smaller??? No idea. Anyway, did that and pounded on it with my pneumatic hammer until it finally came out. That took an hour to drill two holes. I used my new .311 reamer but the holes are still slightly oval. Don't think that will be too bad, but I'll have my technical counselor check that out. Finally, fitted the left gear mount, since I had previously enlarged the gear hole when the fuse was upside down. Got most of the bolts in, and the two on the bottom between the two spar center sections was too tough a reach, so I enlisted the help of my 5 year old. He did a great job getting the washer and bolt on, and I managed to torque them tight. I don't know what people do without having a 5 year old around.
