Brief Description:  More fuel tank stuff

It's good to work at a Sheet Metal shop. There are machines that can make thing so much faster and simpler to do. I am running a flop tube so I must move the float sending unit to the back of the tank baffle. To do this you need to cut a 1.500 round hole in that baffle. Not a real hard thing to do, but made much simpler with a 30 ton punch press and a large assortment of punches to do it with. As you can see in picture number 1 I punched a hole in the baffle. This took all of 15 minuets to do. That included setting up the punch with the right size die set. It also includes punching the doubler plate for the back side of the baffle. I used the T-708 access plate and punched a 2.625 round hole into the center of the sending unit hole pattern, the resulting slug made the doubler with all the plate nut holes already there. See picture number 2. I ordered a new T-708 access plate with out hole to replace the one I punch the hole in to, which I was going to have to do anyway so ruining the access plate was no big deal. If I could have found some 2024-T3 sheet metal at the shop I would have just made the access plate there at the shop. Picture 3 is the T-405 Tank Attach Bracket in a big vibrating tumbler that has ceramic rock that vibrate or tumble the part and smooth any ruff edges and give it an even finish.
