Started on engine cowl. Gonna try to stick to "the Bob's" original design.
The way my rivet spacing for the boot cowl works out, the center peice will be 12 3/4" wide with the 3/4" flanges added.
Went to Rick's to use his shear and cut the center piece and strips out of .032" 2024-T3. Rough cut dimensions 14 3/8" x 39 3/4". Note: Later learned that due to the shape of the firewall pieces need to be cut 1" longer on edges and trimmed after fitting.
Did a lot of checking and rechecking to center piece and position nosebowl.
Installed 3/32" aluminum rivets at locations on firewall flange that will have flush rivets. These are small enough to not create a lot of interference and will will late drilled out and hole size increased for 1/8" solid rivet.
