Made hand holds for rear of fuselage from 1/2" x .049 tubing. I considered making them long enough to provide clearance for the stringers and fabric like many have. Decided against carrying that extra protrusion and weight for a "every now and then" thing. Easy enough to just space up with a 2x4 at each handle.
Tubing is bent at 50 deg and cut at 2" outside dimension. Welded both handles in position.
