Brief Description:  Drilled upper firewall weldments to firewall and j

This evening I decided to try and get the firewall bolted to the jig. I got halfway there...

It is a pain to drill the engine/jig mount holes for the upper longeron weldments. It's easy to know WHERE they are drilled, as there are 3/16th tooling holes in the firewall to help you. The problem is, you are going through 3/16th holes in the stainless firewall, to 2 different pieces of 1/8th angle cut at a 45, (and the butt joint is smack in the middle of that 3/16th hole in the stainless) to a steel weldment. I WAS able to carefully get a centerpunch to take in the center of the tooling holes, and was ultimately able to slowly upsize drill bits until I got to 1/4" for mounting to the jig. These holes will be upsized and match drilled to 3/8" eventually for the engine mount.

At the end of the evening, both upper weldment holes were drilled, and the firewall upper half was bolted to the jig.
