Brief Description:  VP-100 Harnesses & Switches

Time to face the task of pins, wires, and switch assignments.

The Vertical Power VP-100 is a now obsolete model but advanced technically. It replaces fuses, and circuit breakers with computer controlled switching and circuit protection. Fault detection replaces 'blown fuses' or popped CB's, and loads on each circuit are electronically monitored, loads can be evaluated to adjust 'protection' limits up to the physical limit of the wiring, or equipment.

In addition, switches that would normally carry the circuit loads, or directly control relays act as 'computer inputs' to tell the computer to control the circuits. All of this must be defined. Each wiring harness must be grounded and each wire within must be assigned a circuit function, switch and operating values.

Setup a test environment with several lights and worked through the instructions to assign each light to a wire, and switch, then create an internal label for that function. Example; Switch 5 UP turn ON the harness J4 pin 9, protection of 5A, and label it LAND. Turned out that I had put an erroneous tape 'flag' on the wire and it was really Pin 10. Took over an hour to work through troubleshooting, and identify the mislabelled wire.

Also had some friends bring their daughters and friends to visit the hangar, seat in the plane and make airplane noises.
