Received the JD Airparts optional canopy latch for a tip-up, designed to be a direct replacement for the Vans latch. The dimension of the new latch is a perfect match for retaining the position of the top angle and cutting out (enlarging) the previous slot and holes from the Vans part.
Will almost exactly fit the dimensions to completely replace the old part with the new, except for one rivet hole which will be 'filled' with a unfunctional rivet. A slightly shifted rivet spacing would have been cleaner, but it's an RV-6A where hole placement is variable.
Need to order some material, although it's hard to believe that I don't have even one extra piece of 3/4 x 3/4 x 063 AL angle.
The cut-out will be enlarged after the two new angle pieces are fabricated. They will be templates for the new hole alignment.
