Brief Description: Canopy - frame, plexi, rollbar, and latches
Lots of related and unrelated tasks today. Unfinished tasks from previous steps that were roughed-in but not finished. This kit is a test of concentration for someone who suffers from ADD, it's easy to be distracted by another step. Sometimes it's necessary to 'complete' a previous task in order to move forward. Sometimes the completion of a task seems reasonable but a subsequent task will be impacted by including elements which have to be 'undone' to fit into the scheme. Many of these tasks on the canopy need something else to be 'final' before it can be done.
Now at a point to install the canopy latches, but discovered that the full travel of the latch arm is NOT achievied Testing the actuation of the latch mechanism revealed it was not closing the 'hook' fully. Need to open up the hole for the point of the latch to move further.
Adjusted the pivot point on the articulated arm and discovered that the attach point of the link was not pulling the linkage far enough, so then moved it to a new hole.
Straightened up the rear plexi front edge to get better fit between the tip-up portion and the aft window. Combination of a hacksaw blade to scripe the edges, and the cut-off wheel to 'grind' off a little more, a little faster.
Finally, replaced all the angle brackets on the rollbar to support brace. Almost ready to re-rivet the rollbar components.
