Brief Description: First Engine Start - Test
|
|
First Engine Start - big day, much anticipated and very important to resolve carefully and successfully.
Trent & Tony joined me for technical expertise, extinguishers, and safety. Trent made a thorough check for preparations, engine fitness, and we reviewed a start plan, communications and goals. Tony added a 2nd set of eyes and photo documentation (video).
1st start was a little rough, and very short. Checked over the engine for leaks, and issues. Reviewed again the start procedure adjustment for a 2nd run. Shut-down included fuel selector shut-off, mixture ICO and throttle to idle.
2nd start was inhibited by selector in OFF position, demonstrating 100% effectiveness. Ran over 1 min, with good Oil PSI, Fuel PSI, Fuel Flow, Alternator function, MAP and consistent temps (CHT/EGT). Oil Temp was not consistent (check P/N definition?). Boost Pump and Mech Pump PSI were good. Normal ICO and Throttle to idle shutdown.
2nd run was also smoother, and did a Mag-Check (Both, L, R) with expected drops.
Ready to investigate RPM wire for EMS, and Oil Temp issues. Then do a complete fuel calibration process.
