Didn't mention it before but the fuselage was leveled both longitudinally and laterally (pitch and roll) as the HS was clamped and drilled. One frustration with the digital level is the extreme accuracy and even tightening the bolts can seem to throw it out of level.

With the angle of incidence at 'zero' relative to the fuselage, the aft spar was drilled to the vertical attach 'bars' and at this point the aft weight of the fuselage can be lifted (cautiously) from below the HS - very solid.

Then mounted the VS with it's related alignment issues, and it was clamped and drilled. More to do on the fwd attach (F-781 replaces the F-681) to the HS spar. NOTE - remember that the VS/Rudder is the RV-8 line item, and not the original RV-6 pieces.
