Brief Description:  Rudder skin prep

Skin preparation for the rudder was time consuming, tedious and scary. Too awkward and easy to damage something while moving the skin into the C-frame, or trying to re-position. Actually dropped it once when the mallet hit the fwd edge of the skin and knocked it out of my grip allowing it to hang briefly on the dimple die in the C-frame. A little dent in the fwd edge (which will be hidden) and a crease in the trailing edge area. Should squeeze out okay when squeezing the TE.

Found that the dimples closest to the TE were almost impossible in the C-Frame but worked well but slow with the 'pull dimpler' tool (Avery# ) even though I 'popped' the first couple of nails before I discovered that it was well dimpled with firm but gentle squeezes.

Primed the metal to metal areas and a quick light coat on the inside of the skin. Primed all the stiffeners.

Used the backrivet tape (pretty cool stuff) and started backriveting the stiffeners to the skin. Discovered that the backrivet steel plate had very sharp edges and was marring the skin surface with the least movement. Filed and polished it some but think the edges need more work or maybe duct tape all the way around.
