Brief Description:  Cockpit Ventilation

The cockpit ventilation will be installed according to Uli Wolter's plans for a front hinged canaopy. The equivalent step in his plans is step 21. The main difference is the that the NACA air scoop is installed on the bottom of the nose section forward of the rudder pedals. A 2" ID flexible hose is used to connect the air scoop to an eye ball vent on the instrument panel. A flange was constructed to fit behind the eyeball vent and provide a connection for the hose.

The flange was constructed using a 4 BID flat layup. A 2" hole was cut in the middle. A 1 1/2" PVC pipe slightly less than 2" OD was used as a mold for the FRP tube connection. After cure, it was cut out. The FRP tube was also supported at the flange with a small BID tape. After all was cured and cleaned up, the flange was cut to shape to fit on the panel. This was completed for both sides of the panel.

Teh instrument panel has not been fit back into the fuselage yet. It is expected that some of the support flange for the panel to the fuselage on the pilot side will require some trimming. The panel will also need to be built up at the flange to assure a flat surface betwee the support fuselage flange and the panel. The copilot side is not expected to have any issues.
