Brief Description: Preparing the Strut for Installation
09/09/2006 I sanded down the main landing gear to prepare for the torsional layups. 09/10/2006 I sanded down the bumps on the trailing edge and trimmed the gear to 95" per plans. Set the gear on the table on nails and floxed it in place. I cut the 30° UND plys in preparation for a layup. 09/11/2006 I layed up the 1st 4 plys of cross hatched UND over the trailing edge. I peel ply'd all the layup to facilitate the next 4 layers. 09/12/2006 I broke the LG from the nail supports and sanded and sanded and sanded …… and sanded the fiber glass on the leading edge. I obtained the soda straws but stopped for the night. 09/13/2006 I epoxied the straw tubes on each leg w/ 5 minute epoxy. I then used some alum tape and made a trailing edge support. I wet out some 3" BID @ 45° on wax paper and then layed it out on the trailing edge. I peel ply'd the entire area. 09/14/2006 I trimmed up all the new TE and sanded everything down 09/21/2006 I finished the last 4 UND plys on the LG strut, starting on the LE and drapping it down over the BID TE support. I peel ply'd everything 09/22/2006 Sanded down all the edges and blended the new layup into the one under it.
