Brief Description:  Contouring and Installing the Fuselage Bottom

04/09/2006 I marked the 3/8" blue foam for the bottom and cut them out 3/4" beyond those marks. Epoxied the pieces together using 5 min.
04/14/2006 With the foam laying on the fuselage, I attached 4 cross members with 5 min epoxy and then 2 long stringers on top of that. I then marked the landing break and started cutting it out with a 45° bevel. I discovered that I had put the long stringers over the landing break ?*&%. In the end, I think this was actually good since I needed to leave the landing brake in to install the 3/4" foam over it.
04/15/2006 I cut out all the 3/4" urethane foam for the standoffs. I sanded it to shape.
04/16/2006 I covered the landing brake with wax paper to prevent the brake from sticking to the 3/4" foam. I used micro slurry and attached all the 3/4" foam.
04/17/2006 Removed the nails and tried on the fuselage. There was not any necessary changes. It fit very well. I figured out that I did forget the foam at the very front of the bottom, the part that will fit against F22. I cut them out and micro'd them in place
04/18/2006 Contoured all foam to get ready for glass. Cut out the glass.
04/20/2006 Micro'd the surface and layed down the glass. Peel ply'd all the areas that will require joining.
04/21/2006 Trimmed the excess glass and sanded the edges smooth. I found several air bubbles that developed. I drilled holes and injected epoxy to repair.
04/22/2006 Used a lot of flox and set the bottom on the fuselage
04/23/2006 Sanded down all the joints in preparation for taping
04/28/2006 Taped the front seat area and the area in front of the IP.
04/29/2006 Taped the back seat area.
