The exhaust pipes are the Hal Hunt inside cowl design. Due to the arrangement of the pipes, it is very difficult to reach the back exhaust flange nut on cylinder 1; therefore, I took the pipes off of the slip joint. I then torqued the exhaust flange with the appropriate copper envelope gasket to 15 ft-lbs.
Then the fun begain. I could not get the pipes to go back onto the slip joint. I tried using heat, I tried brute force, nothing worked. Del Shier on the mailing list suggested using a tubing expander. I acquired one from Harbor Aviation Freight Tools and expanded the tubing slightly. I finally got it back on, then I had to get the springs back on, whew!
I installed all of the other pipes and torqued then with the copper gasket. I also drilled the holes for the EGT probes.
Before installing 2 and 4 cylinder, I finished connecting the oil drain tube from Cylinder 2 head drain.
I also installed the Gates V-Belt 7315 belt on the alternator.
