Brief Description:  Cowl fitting; final riveting of top skin

Spent the morning attaching the two cowlings to each other using attach strips drilled and clecoed to the bottom cowl and then spacing locations for the camloc fasteners to clear the engine rocker covers. Then the top cowling was drilled and clecoed to the bottom, including the locations for screws and platenuts behind the spinner.

Judith arrived and assisted in riveting the last locations on the top skin. She was able to reach the areas under the panel where I had not been able to buck. Even so, there were a couple of places where it was impossible to get a bucking bar and so hard pulled rivets were used. Due to the shimming process, all these locations were drilled out to 3/32", so all the rivets are -4 instead of -3; including the pulled rivets, so strength should not be a problem. During the process, Judith disconnected the avionics fan, which will need to be connected again.
