Brief Description:  Wing rigging

Don came over and helped to put the wings on. Attached the flaps to the flaps actuation tube, and the ailerons to the control triangle. Rigged the ailerons to be even side to side according to the dimension given, then adjusted the control triangle end of the pushrods to bring the sticks back to center. Adjusted the flaps to be even, then brought them up the same number of turns per side to bring them to full up. They appear to be maybe 3/8" - 1/2" drooped from the ailerons. It may be that they get pushed up in flight when air loaded (the pushrod is on the very inner end of the flap, and the droop is at the very outboard end), or they may just run this way. After rigging, measured the gap between the wing and the fuselage to be able to trim the fairing strips for each side. Notes - the flap bolt on the left side at the actuation tube is very hard to get at because the flaps lever and brake cables are in the way. Saw on the factory aircraft that they cut out the web between the lightening holes on the innermost ribs. Need to do that. Also the canopy retention cable broke, causing the canopy to flop down onto the wing. Two rivets left marks on the canopy, and there's a pattern of scratches about 10" diameter, but the canopy didn't break. Will remake the cable with nicopress sleeves and thimble loops instead of the swaged eyes on the cable ends - so it can't break in this way again. This was a from-the-factory cable.
