Work began on the electric flap drive system. A linear actuator was purchased from Firgelliauto.com. The actuator has a stroke of 4" and a maximum output load of 150 lbs. To fit low enough in the back seat area, the mounting was modified as shown in image 1. As can be seen in the image, a short section of tubing was fitted to the end of the actuator to allow the pivot point to be closer to the floor, while also allowing the mounted position of the actuator to be rotated as needed for clearances. A clevis was fabricated out of .063 2024T3 with flanges that attach to the .032 floor while beaming the actuator load along the floor to the aft bulkhead. This will be secured with (5) 1/8-inch rivets in each flange. With this done, the drive end of the actuator was modified by removing the plug in the output arm and replacing it with a threaded pushrod mount as needed for the Heim (Aurora) joint bearing. This mount was cross drilled and secured with a 1/4-inch bolt as shown in image 2. The general arrangement of the installation is shown in image 3. This is all just for set-up and fabrication at this point. The final installation will include spacer bushings and jam nuts as needed.
