Brief Description:  Starting Flap Torsion Bar Attachment Fittings

I started planning for the location of the flap drive (torsion tube) assembly. The key will be to have the outboard drive bell crank located in the correct spot vertically. Image 2 shows my computed location of where the bell crank needs to be while making sure that the tube will not interfere with the lower wing skin. My interpretation of the drawings is that this dimension needs to be at least 1/8 inch from the lower spar flange. This location then sets the height of the tube on the spar. When this location is compared the location that results from building the attach fitting per the drawings, it appears to be slightly low. (See image 2) As a result, I am going to remake this fitting with additional flange width both top and bottom, welding the tubes as needed, then locate the weldment on the spar as needed to obtain the location drawn in image 1. The fittings will then be trimmed as needed to eliminate excess material.
