Setup fuselage on two bottle jacks. Jacks adjusted to level the fuselage, with slight pressure on wooded blocks to hold the axle assembly in position. Vertical distance from fuselage to center of axles was within 1/8" between axles, Overall distance exeeded plan dimension by 1-1/2". Accepted additional height rather than trim titanium landing gear.
Centerline established with a stringline from tailwheel attachment to a point 22 feet in front of wheelbase, string just touching a plumb line hung from the center of motor mount. A 10' piece of Unistrut was set parallel and level 20 feet from the wheelbase. Centerline was marked on Unistrut. Points 29-5/16 from the center marked on Unistrut. A laser level was leveled in the horizontal plane while placed on a piece of aluminum angle attached to the wheel pant mounting plate, The axle assembly was rotated so the laser light intercepted the edge of an angle held on the Unistrut. Holes in the axle assembly socket were used to mark hole locations in the titanium landing gear.
