The edge distance for HS702 is extremely close after trimming back the flange, mine is just under 1 1/2d. Gut feeling is that it is ok as the rivet spacing and single row of rivets suggest the stresses in this area are not too high. Asking Van's anyway and awaiting a response. Will be disappointed if it is not acceptable as I was extremely careful to just trim away the flange. Time will tell!!

That's all the components prepped, hoping to build the skeleton and get the first skin on this weekend although I still haven't received my Alodine and zinc chromate from the states, so final assembly may have to wait a bit. In the meantime, I'm trying to source both here in Saudi.
Holy sh*t!!!! Had a response from Bruce at Van's within 10 minutes of sending the email!!! It is ok, just. But how about that for service from our manufacturer?!!
