Brief Description:  Misc

Misc describes tonight's efforts best. I spent the time tying up loose ends in the panel, things that have been bothering me, and things that were bound to start riding my nerves.

I spent close to half the time simply bundling wires around the back of the panel. Nothing pisses me off more than a random grouping of wires jutting out of here there and everywhere.

I also glued the two nutplates in place for the lower subpanel #8 screws. I was going to rivet them in place, but simply didn't have the room on the brackets to do so.

I stuck the GPS antenna into place on top of the radio tray. I still need to add power for the GPS, but I need to figure out if the center pole or if the surrounding area is the positive for cigaratte lighters. As soon as I figure that out, I will hook up power for the 496. Yes, that's right, I said 496. I decided, while flying home from Vegas this weekend that it doesn't make much sense to have a separate XM subscription for the Searey when the 496 is easily transportable between the two airplanes. It doesn't look like dad will spend much time with the Glasair anytime soon, so why not kill two birds with one stone? I will buy another XM antenna to leave in the Searey.

Finally I pulled the pin out of Connector #1 that had its wire come loose. The wire was simply crimped, and not soldered, into place and pulled out. I'm not sure how many pins in that connector are afflicted by that 'disease', but to pull them all doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.
