I decided to make the rear float fitting similiar to the F. Atlee Dodge Supercub fittings that I have welded to Cub airframes. These will also use the swivel fittings from the Zenair Kitfox installation. Since my S20 is a ELSA and already had fabric on the fuselage and needed to be built to the instruction manuals provided by Rans I decided not to weld on the fittings and to utilzie the Rans factory installed float attach bushings. There are two bushings per side, one horizontal and one vertical.
For these fittings I did not try to design them in 3d CAD, choosing to measure the airframe and fabric the parts to fit. I needed to make some some bending tooling to achieve the same radius on the fittings as the lower longeron.
Most of this time was spent measuring the fuselage, sketching the fittings, fabricating bending tooling, making test bends and cutting out the first part.
