Brief Description:  New Painting Tools

Here is what I came up with for spray painting. The spray gun that I will use is not quite the one shown in the third picture, but similar...I'll get to that in a minute. :)

I needed a lot more air volume than what my existing compressor could provide, so I bought another one from Harbor Freight (on sale). That's it in the first picture. It does not have enough volume by itself, but when combined with my existing compressor they can keep up.

In the second picture you'll see the T fitting on my filter/regulator. That's where the two compressors combine. In the picture, the yellow tubing is plugged in where the output to the spray gun will go.

In the third picture is a Harbor Freight spray gun that I tried. It's very inexpensive, but was not able to handle the thicker paint that I had decided to try. As to the paint, I was very disappointed with the Stewart System paint that I had tried (you can read about my experience in the previous entries here), and I'm sure that it was my fault as there are many, many, reports of people having very good experiences with it. I'm a painting newbie, and it shows. :) But, the reality is that the Stewart System paint is very expensive for me to learn on. I've had to sand off and remove over $200 of paint. What a waste, both of money and time! I did some research, and it looks like people are having good luck with Latex paint, so that's what I will try next. One issue, though, is that the Latex paint is much thicker than regular paint. I bought a paint gun and a a 2.5mm tip from TCPGlobal , and it's working well. More in the next entry.
