(Continued)

According to specs that I found on the internet, this rivet (SD68BS) has an allowed grip range of .376 to .500 inches. The correct rivet that I found is an SD612BS which has a grip range of .626-.750. So, I started searching for the SD612BS rivets...where to buy some?

I went to a couple of local hardware stores, but they did not carry the SD612BS rivet that I needed (see the previous log entry for reasons why). I then started searching online. I found a number of places that would allow me to submit a request for a quote (obviously, they were dealing with much larger volumes than I wanted to purchase). I then found McMaster-Carr, and was able to order a single box (about 100) rivets; while I was at it, I also ordered a box of SD68BS rivets just in case....

This was at about 9pm at night. They shipped them out the next morning, and I had them the next day! Wonderful! By the way, they have an amazing selection of specialty items...I really felt like a kid in a candy store browsing around their web site.
