Today I decided to switch gears and begin the final flap assembly. I need to buy some more alumiprep before I can continiue with the aileron parts. I began by re-assembling the nose rib/ hinge assemblys. There are 3 of these on each wing. The markings I engraved on each piece before priming made assembly easy. Once riveted, I clecoed each assembly to the spars and riveted them in place. I the inboard rib and plate needed to be riveted with the platenuts. The remaining ribs were next. after all the framing was riveted together, I clecoed the top skins on the ribs and then clecoed the nose skin on. The entire assemlby is then weighted down again and the nose skins are final drilled and riveted with pop rivets. I did all of these on both flaps. Next I put the right flap in the saddle I made yesterday. This was a good place to stop, so tomorrow I will be riveting on the skins and putting the trailing edges together. I like doing the final assembly......I really feels like you are accomplishing something.
