Started this morning by backriveting the stiffeners for the left aileron skins. I then brought out the partially assembled spars & counter balance assemblys for the ailerons. The right looks good, but I screwed up on the left. I somehow mixed the skins up and ended up with the top skin on the bottom and the bottom skin on the top. I could drill out all of the rivets for the stiffeners on both skins.......or I could continue with the build. The top and bottom skins are identical execpt for the trailing edge pre-drilled holes. The top skin has the predrilled holes, so you can drill thru the top skin, AEX aluminum and thru the bottom skin. I decided to do the right side first, figure out if I could do the assembly of the left side upside down....I set the 2 ribs on the right and used temporary rivets to hole the skins in place. Negxt I clecoed on the nose skin. This was very difficult on the flaps, but the ailerons are smaller and even though is was hard, I managed to put it on and cleco every other hole. I continued to drill out the remaining holes and finished by drilling out the trailing edge. The wavy aileron straightened right out and looks good! Tomorrow I will tacke to left side.
Right side aileron weighed down with the DRDT-2 dimpler!
After drilling and cleco-ing
The rest of the holes are match drilled and clecoed.
