Brief Description:  Pro-Seal!

Pro-Seal!! It's funny how you get a little apprehensive about a doing a task on the plane....but then when you finally start, all doubt leaves and you proceed like a pro.....Confidence builds the more you get into this project. I began tonite by setting up all the stiffener rivets (cleaned with M.E.K.). I then taped them with rivet tape. I continued to do the same with the cap filler flanges. I then got all of my rags & M.E.K and popsicle sticks together. I measured out the pro-seal on the balance scale. I mixed it on a piece of scrap wood. This stuff sticks to EVERYTHING! I then used a popsicle stick to fill one of the 60 cc syringes. I spead pro-seal around every rivet (one stiffener at a time) and then filled in the area between using the nossle of the syringe. I next placed the stifferner and pushed it down in place with a wood wedge. Once I was sure the stiffener was seated, I back riveted. I used a popsicle stick to make a nice fillet of pro-seal at all the edges. I then riveted the fuel cap flanges the same way. Of course I forgot to rivet in the T-914 vent line clip! I had to drill out one rivet and then re-rivet w/ the clip (on both tanks). The last thing was to rivet the drain valve flange. I used a sqeezer on these rivets. I could not reach 2 of the rivets with the squeezer, so I back riveted these. Clean up was achieved with M.E.K. I had to clean some areas of the skins, but all in all it was not too bad. I did go thru about 10 pair of gloves. Tomorrow I will reassemble the tanks and begin riveting in the ribs.
