Brief Description: Roughed up surfaces and cleaned parts
I began this morning by roughing up the skins with scoth-brite pads. My arms got very tired....I then roughed up all the parts I will use in the first session of final assembly. This includes the T-911 stiffeners, the fuel cap flanges and the drain flanges. After all the parts were done, I cleaned them and the skins with M.E.K. The last step was to tape off the areas I don't want pro-seal on. I pulled out the cans of pro-seal and read the directions. The parts are mixed at a ratio of 10:1. I had not thought of how I was going to measure this.....untill now. I decided to make a simple balance scale and use clecoes to set the proper ratio. I set it up and balanced the scale with 20 clecoes on one side and 2 on the other (10:1). All I have to do is put some pro-seal on a piece of wax paper and set it on the scale until the two sides are balance......pretty smart! My son said it was a great idea.....2000 years ago! (smart ass...) It looks like I'm ready to tackle one on the major rights of passage on building....Pro-Sealing tanks. I'll let you know how that goes.....tomorrow.
All areas to be joined are roughed up with a scotch-brite pad
I taped off the areas to get a nice clean pro-seal line
Kind of hard to see in this picture, but this is the balance scale I made from scrap stuff.
