Brief Description: Cleaned shop and deburred holes & dimpled skins
I started this morning by once again, cleaning up the shop. I'm amaized at how much aluminum shavings accumilate on the floor. I also put all the tools away and began to disassemble the tanks. As I did this, I used the engraver to make sure all the parts were marked for re-assembly. Next were many hours of deburring the holes in the skins and the ribs. I also deburred the edges of the skins. The ribs were then all dimpled. I used the pnuematic rivet squeezer for all of these (my favorite tool). The skins were dimpled with my DRDT-2 dimpler. The Van's manual says to use a c-frame dimpler and a mallet to dimple the screw holes on the aft edges of the skins. I only have the DRDT-2 dimpler......so that is what I used.....and it still looks "nice".
All tank parts disassembled, marked and ready to deburr & dimple
Skins dimpled - I put the tape over the baffle holes, so I don't accidently dimple them.
