Brief Description:  Rear Spars

I started out this morning by getting all the trash and crates cleaned up. I bagged all the paper and cut the long crate in two. This opened up alot of space and will make accessing the wing stands easier. I pulled out the parts for the rear wing spars and started to deburr......I then match drilled the doubler plates and clecoed. These plate are where the aileron pushrod fittings will go. I also had to drill & cutout the hole for the pushrod. I used the uni-bits and a file. I then match drilled the reinforcement forks and the rear spar doubler plate. These were then deburred and countersunk. Remember......every thing I do on the wings is done 2 times. One for the left wing and one for the right. The plans just show the left wing, but if I do them together, I just mirror the task to the right wing. This simplifies things alot! I now need to prime these parts and rivet the spar together. There are many holes in the rear spars and many rivets are not installed till they are done "in assembly" with other parts (like ribs). Van's recommends these hole be taped over when riveting, so I don't end up installing rivets then drilling alot of them out.......good advice! I layed out all of the ribs on the work bench. 58...... that's alot of ribs! I will begin the process of deburring, fluting and straightening each one.....tomorrow.
